Indestructable tool for storing sensitive information Cryptosteel launching today
Today, backup solution innovator Cryptosteel is announcing its official launch, following a successful Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign and the busy development that followed. As of right now, open-source Cryptosteel project schematics are permanently available for download on Github. In celebration, Cryptosteel is releasing a limited run of special editions featuring fully functional one-of-a-kind Cryptosteel prototypes and original artwork by artist Rafael Akahira combining the artist’s signature reduction woodblock technique with vivid imagery inspired by Satoshi Nakamoto’s infamous manifesto.
Cryptosteel is the premier indestructible backup tool for optimal offline storage of private keys, passwords and wallet recovery seeds without any third-party involvement. The technology combines the age-old idea of engraving with a DIY assembly format and materials that are stainless, rust-free, and fireproof up to 1200°C/2100°F to survive extreme conditions and unthinkable abuse.
Following endorsement by hundreds of cryptocurrency users at the beta stage, Cryptosteel is going to full production with a final product ready for the public.
“It wasn’t until I physically held my own Cryptosteel tool that I knew I had to get in on the bitcoin experience.” —Cryptosteel beta user
Each Cryptosteel tool enables users to store a confidential sequence of up to 96 characters instantly and privately. Backups are assembled manually using the provided optimized (and part-randomized) tile library. Applications include storage of BIP39-compatible private keys, account numbers, master passwords, PINs, GPS co-ordinates and other sensitive information.
Cryptosteel indestructible backup tools are compatible with numerous Bitcoin HD wallets, including Trezor, Ledger and KeepKey.
